特殊教育需求(SEN)和包容性


包容性是我们方法的核心。我们建立了全面的程序,支持有额外需求的学生。作为低年级的指定特殊教育需求协调员,我确保我们的特殊教育需求(SEN)支持系统得以建立,并不断发展以支持我们所有的年轻学习者。我们的目标是提供量身定制的支持,使所有学生在我们的社区内茁壮成长,庆祝他们独特的优势并解决他们个人的挑战。

个人、社交、

健康和经济(PSHE)教育

Harrow Hengqin places a strong emphasis on pastoral care, showcasing a steadfast commitment to supporting all students by empowering our students with essential skills and confidence, enabling them to tackle challenges directly. Our approach is inspired by global expertise, incorporating best practices and diverse perspectives to ensure our students receive exceptional care.

As a founding member of the Harrow Hengqin school community, I am thrilled to share with you the cornerstone of our Lower School's nurturing environment: our overarching pastoral care systems. At Harrow, we believe that the well-being and holistic development of our students are paramount. Here’s a closer look at how we achieve this.

Comprehensive Support 

for Every Student


Our pastoral care system is designed to provide unwavering support to every student. As the Head of Pastoral for the Lower School, I oversee a team dedicated to ensuring that each child feels valued, safe, and encouraged to reach their full potential. We implement a range of strategies to support students academically, socially, and emotionally.

Special Educational 

Needs (SEN) and Inclusion


Inclusivity is at the heart of our approach. We have established comprehensive procedures for supporting students with additional needs. As the designated SENDCO for Lower School, I ensure that our Special Educational Needs (SEN) support systems are in place and continually developed to support all of our young learners. Our goal is to provide tailored support that enables all students to thrive within our community, celebrating their unique strengths and addressing their individual challenges.

Personal, Social, Health 

and Economic (PSHE) Education 


Next academic year, we will be introducing a Lower-School specific PSHE education program which will become a pivotal part of our pastoral care. This curriculum is designed to equip students with essential life skills, fostering their personal development and well-being. Through engaging lessons and interactive activities, we will teach our students about health, safety, and the importance of making informed decisions. This holistic education ensures they are well-prepared for the complexities of the world around them.

Promoting Positive Behaviour 


Promoting positive behaviour is integral to our ethos. We have implemented robust routines and policies that encourage respect, responsibility, and resilience among our students. These principles are encapsulated in our Harrow iRules, which guide students to be honest, act with integrity, show kindness, respect others, and strive for excellence. By aligning our positive behaviour strategies with our core values of Courage, Honour, Humility and Fellowship, we cultivate a harmonious and productive school environment where every student can flourish.

Engaging with Parents 


A strong partnership between home and school is crucial for the success of our students. We continually seek to actively engage with parents through regular communication, parent workshops through the Parent Academy, and collaborative events. These initiatives ensure that parents are well-informed and involved in their child’s education, fostering a supportive and cohesive community.

Safeguarding and Welfare


Safeguarding our students is a fundamental priority. We have rigorous policies in place to protect their welfare and promote a safe learning environment. Collaborating with staff, students, and parents, we ensure that all necessary measures are taken to identify, assess, and support any student at risk of harm.

Continuous Professional 

Development (CPD) for Staff


Our commitment to excellence extends to our staff. By contributing to the planning and delivery of CPD sessions, I ensure that our teachers are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills to provide exceptional pastoral care. This continuous learning culture enhances the overall quality of our educational environment.
